Hi
I've just returned from Marrakesh and I stayed in a quiet riad called Dar Maada. This is in a busy area in the medina but it is also very quiet as soon as you pass through the door. It is not luxurious but it has ensuite rooms and a roof terrace and it is very good value for money.

You can book via hostelworld.com. and it is run by a Frenchman who is very helpful.

Hi - Not sure of your budget - we stayed at Les Borjs De La Kasbah. It was really nice and we liked the location - in the Kasbah quarter of the Medina old town. Rooms were really nice, staff was excellent, breakfasts good. Nice, real "neighborhood". (www.lesborjsdelakasbah.com/) Happy Travels!

We stayed in Hotel Sherazade and I can highly recommend this place.
Although it is called a ‘hotel’, it is a real ‘riad’. It does exist of two traditional Moroccan residences and also has two patios, a lot of ‘hidden’ corners, a nice roof terrace with a restaurant (and breakfast room).

I would also second VTveen/Jaaps recommendation for the hotel Sherazade.

and also try www.jnanemogador.com in case they still have vacancies for your travel period as they book up several months ahead due to low prices for good value/one of the lowest prices for a riad in Marrakech.

Also I should add that if theres 3 of you what about renting a car and driving yourselves - the drive from Marrakech is one of the best - lovely scenery along the way and yes the road is a little winding in places but its good bitumen all the way.

If you want to stop or change plans then you are free to do so and take photos wherever you go, Or rent a grande taxi with driver for about 600 dirham a day plus food and cheap accom if you decided to make it 2 nights. but make sure he agrees to stop wherever you want him to stop. You can get them at the grande taxi stations.

The scenery is excellent on from Taroudannt down through Ighrem to Tafroute and then over Col Kerdous to Aglou and back up via Sous Massa national park to Agadir and back to Marrakech - lovely scenery all the way. and if you didnt want to go via Col Kerdous and Tiznt the road is equally stunning from Tafroute back to Agadir past the Tizergane kasbah/fortified village on a hilltop.

February is the best month for the almond blossoms which grow quite prolifically around Tin Mal area to TiznTest between Marrakech and Taroudannt and around Tafroute.
