Hello my friends in Jordan, I would like to ask if anyone would know of a realiable tour company that runs daily tours to Petra from Amman. I was told about a company called Rum Tours, I tried sending an e-mail to them and I recieved a respond that it was no longer avaiable !!!! Don't know if they changed the e-mail address or if they went out of business !!! Anyhow I am intresetd of anyone has a name of a good daily tour to Amman. My hotel tried...the word is tried to sell me a tour of $300 US dollars.... I told them to get lost with that price.... Can anyone help ???? Thanks sooo much... Jlanza29

Hi,
Can`t help with tour companies but you might want to consider spending two nighs in Petra to be able to see all the ruins ,there is a lot to see and walking to do.It`s hard to do it on a day trip unless you `re pressed for time given the distance from Amman to Petra....then the walking within The ancient city itself, the entrance fee might be 30 + dollars can`t remember exactly and if a private car with driver ,guide,water ,map,meal is included then MAYBE it`s only slightly exaggerated but dont qoute me on that either ,Jordan is not expensive but not cheap either.You might want to watch this video to get an idea of Petra .

Petra is about 176 miles -235 kilometers from Amman about 2and half hour drive.
Just to give you an idea about the cost ,
Unlike other countries where the US Dollar converts to more than the local currency in this case 1 JD Jordanian Dinar is 1.42 US Dollars .
Doubt you will get the day tour below 170 US dollars at any independent travel agency that you might contact directly depending on what`s included,off course entrance fee, transportation,English speaking tour guide,Water /drinks ,meal in a restaurant,horse or donkey ride at the entrance or within the city.
The day trip is 10 hrs and you wont have time to climb to the monastery i think, At night Petra is lit with candles all over looks awesome.
