Verona where to shop for antiques and "just old" stuff
Posted: Mon January 12, 2009 12:40 AM UTC
where does one find affordable antiques, aged garden statuary, old olive jars, old linens etc. in the verona and vicenza area? any nice little shops, charming farmhouses or warehouses that are within a half hour drive or so -- out of the mainstream or known primarily by locals where i could find something special? i've browsed through the mercatinos (i think that's what they were called) in verona. that was fun and i plan to do it again when i'm in verona in february -- but am always looking for new things to see when i visit.

What you mean is sold in little open air markets.

Look at this list (beware that the site advises to double check before moving , because they may be changeable):

For Verona town:
Mercato delle 3 A - Arte, Antiquariato e Artigianato Periodo di svolgimento: Il 3° sabato del mese presso sagrato della Basilica di S.Zeno

Any 3rd saturday of the month, in front of the San Zeno church.

Very interesting (expecially for where it is) on the 3rd Sunday is the Montagnana open air market.
Ciao
Francesco
