yes as you mentioned with suitcases it will be hard, better a taxi is not expensive about 15-20 euros including the bags. from airport to central barrio Carmen.should not be much diff for you on plaza tetuan :you can take the metro from the aeroport to universitat line 5, cheaper but carrying those bags do not know you so, better the taxi.

the universitat is on nice area with metro stops all along it, universitat,la Carrasca, and Tarongers. bus service is regular along avenue Tarongers which crosses with Avenida Cataluña . near the Valencia FC club at stadium de Mestalla, and about 3 or 4 metro stop from city center. Now the campus life is another story, this you should get from the university directly ,you should know their site but in english they explain well

have a nice stay , i have family at El Saler south of the city, and had visit often, great town to be in.
