Re: how many days in Bucharest and rest of Romania Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 09:26 AM UTC
1. for bucharest2 days enough
2. after 2 days in bucharest you have 10 days more so it can be:
BUCHAREST - SINAIA - BRASOV
you left bucharest with the train arly morning get of in sinaia
put your laggege in safe office tour the city and at the evening
continiu to brasov city for 3 days Aand make a day tour:
BRASOV - POIANA BRASOV [with bus]
BRASOV - BRAN AND RASNOV [with bus]
BRASOV - PREJMER AND HARMAN [with bus]
you left brasov and continiu with train to sighisoara
sleep there for a night/two.
one day make a your in the sighisoara city and a day tour:
SIGHISOARA - SIBIU [with bus or train]
SIGHISOARA - TARGU MURES [with bus]
so till now we spend 2 night at bucharest 3 night at brasov
area and 2 night at sighisoara area total 7 night you have 5 more.
the last 5 spend them at MARAMURES AND BUCOVINA area.
SIGHISOARA - BAIA MARE [with night train sleeper]
the train depart sighisoara at 12:46 AM after midnight and arrived to baia
mare at 06:27 AM at morning the train nr' are RAPID 741.

Re: how many days in Bucharest and rest of Romania Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 09:43 AM UTC
you shuld know that there is a problem with
buplic transport at MARAMURES AND BUCOVINA but
you can do it thos plave are the most wanderfuul place in
the country! some city/vilage hava one/two daily bus but
in general people there move with hitchhike it's comon
in thos place and you pay as nned to pay to bus or some time
they people dont want from you many.
so you travel from west to est till the pained monastery near
suceava and when you finishe you can take a night train with sleeper to bucharest, there is a daily night train that depart VATRA DORNEI at 21:42 PM and pass "Gura Humorului Oras" at 23:31 and pass "suceava" at 24:25 AM after midnight. the train nr' are ACCELERAT 1658.
by the way there is another place that I didnt mention this is the:
LACU ROSU [the red lake]
BICAZ
thos place are at south of suceaca so you can save them one day (-:

I was in Bucharest last march 23 thru 26 and the flowers were blooming, but a few days before I was in the mountain area and there was a bit of snow on the ground. It did get to about 19 c during the day when I visited Peles Castle. Cold at night and fairly warm daytime.

It looks like you will be in Romania for Easter which is a really nice time to be here. If you can get up to the Maramures villages you will find religious festivities going on in most of the villages may i suggest Budesti is one of the best to visit on Easter night.Close to midnight the people of the villages come to the church to have thier traditional bread blessed and in Budesti they have a feast on that night. This is beautiful as all the locals will dress in thier traditional cloths and whole families will turn out for the procession. Even in the local town of Sighet you will find a similar procession but its not quite so dramatic.
Have a good trip.

Re: how many days in Bucharest and rest of Romania Posted: Tue February 3, 2009 11:19 AM UTC
Hey. :)
Since you gave me soem tips before I went to Athens, I'll try to answer some of your questions.
June is high season and it gets very hot in Bucharest.
I'd advise you to first go visit the Peasant's Museum. It will help you grasp a bit on the Romanian spirit. Plus, there's a therase/club in the back yard where live concerts (mostly rock, to your pleasure:) but also classic guitar ) are held every Friday and Saturday. Good food is a plus there. :) This one is in Victory Square
Secondly, you should see the Village Museum (Close to the Arch of Triumph). It's a plein-air space with houses, churches and actual hosueholds were brought from accross the country.
Of course, teh House of Parliament (of the People) is a must if you are inetrested in communism and the cult of gradeur and personality. In the same building there's the Contemporary Art Museum.
I'd spend one eveningw alking around Lipsacni area: between Unirii and University squares.
I think 2 full days are enough.
As for otehr places, Maramures is the most ebautiful area to visit in Romania but a bit difficult to get there and to move around. If that's your place of interest, I'd try to find a traveling agency for assistance.
I advise you to go see the monasteries in Moldova.
As for cities, Brasov and Sibiu are easy to reach. Sighisoara shouldn't be missed eitehr. From Brasov you can go to Bran and , if I were you, I'd go mountainhiking for a weekend. The tracks are not very difficult but the sceneries are amazing.
Let me know if I can help you with any other info.

Re: how many days in Bucharest and rest of Romania Posted: Thu February 19, 2009 08:53 AM UTC
hy, my name is valentin and since i'm a bucharest citizen i can give you some tips about what you can do in bucharest
1 you need like 2 or 3 days to see and explore the Bucharest with the museums and also the surondings like Mogosoaia Palace , and Snagov with the dracula's tomb
2 i sugest you to take a tour drive for seeing Transilvania with Dracula's castle(Bran), the Royal Peles Castle and the Ghotic Blak churc\it's cheaper in this way
3 since you whant to stay 10-12 days i suggest you also to take a day trip to BUlgaria because she has some nice places like Veliko Tarnova that is also the old capital of Bulgaria
If I have made some grammar mistakes please excuse me
