Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Helsinki Port of Helsinki
Posted: Wed January 7, 2009 02:33 AM UTC
Hi everyone

Two (hopefully) quick questions:

1/ How long does it take to get from Vantaa Airport to the Ferry harbour in Helsinki by taxi and how much would this cost approximately?

2/ When you take the ferry to Tallinn, what exactly is the procedure when you are boarding in Helsinki? Do you carry all your luggage on board with you, or is there some sort of other system (we will be foot passengers)? I've never caught a ferry so I'm not sure what happens... especially with luggage.

Thanks for any help possible!

There are 3 harbours with ferries to Tallinn but all is somewhere around the centre, the journey by taxi will be about half an hour and cost about 40 or so.
If you want to save, take a bus from the airport to the centre and from there a taxi, it will cost you less then 20.
Yes, you carry all your language and belonging with you when going on the ferry.

Hi there,

from airport to Katajanokka (now, there are two ports in Helsinki from where the ferries operates to Tallinn. Katajanokka is one of them. Basically they are around the same distance from the airport.) is around 20km's. If you take a taxi, the start rate is 7,70 euros + 1,30euros/km. Do the math.

At the arrivals hall you can go and ask the price for an Airport Taxi (yellow sign, well visible). The price should be 25euros when two people travelling. But do check this, as not really sure about the pricing. (http://www.airporttaxi.fi/airporttaxi_eng.html)

2) You need to carry your luggage yourselves to the ferry.
