Hotels in Paris

Hi All,

I'm travelling to Paris in April and would like to have some advice on hotels. I am travelling alone so I need a decent and safe budget hotel. My max budget per day is around EUR100 or below. Any recommendations are most welcome.

Thanks
Anne

You might want to consider the Hotel Virgina (link below) where I stayed, they have rooms between 82-95 euros.

I recommend Hotel Tourisme. Its within easy walking distance of the Eiffel Tower. Tip on my Paris page.

Hi Anne,

Check out the hotel tips from one of VT's Paris experts, Guyon (http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/1a306/18308/). Guyon lists a number of extremely good value hotels, I haven't stayed in any yet but I intend to use his advice for a trip later this year.

Regards,

Charlie

Hi. If you want a cheap-ass hotel, up in the 11th, bordering on the 20th and the Pere Lachase Cemetery (where Jim Morrisson is buried, of course), go to the Hotel Modern, 121 rue Chemin Vert, as short walk from the Metro stop Pere Lachase. This is an immigrant neighborhood, not a tourist mecca. I was there in May 2004; I recall paying less than 100 USD. I didn't need heat then. Microscopic room, but private full bath with skinny shower "tube," plenty of hot water, (no bidet) and lovely tall windows which opened, like refrigerator doors, onto the cobblestoned cul-de-sac called Cite Jolle. Don't accept a room near or over the Arabic cafe on Chemin Vert, as it is especially noisy on Saturday nights. On www.france-hotels.com, 51E is their winter rate for a single. Breakfast is the usual bread and butter, but they had the BEST coffee I ever drank!

We had 3 nights at Hotel de la Sorbonne in the Latin quarter on the left bank. Less than 10 minutes walk to Seine River and Notre Dame Cathedral and other sights. Should meet your budget, safe area close to st Michel Boulevard. Photos on my Paris page.
Good Luck,
Mike

I really liked this hotel Lyon-Mulhouse
http://www.hotel-lyonmulhouse.com/english/hotel01.html
72 Euros per night for a single.
I love the location right near Bastille. A subway entrance is right next to the hotel. It's a 5 minute walk to the Place des Vosges and the area around Bastille is very animated at night, not with tourists, but local Parisians.
The hotel is very clean, the staff is friendly and helpful.
Bon voyage!
Jeannette

Anne, I've stayed as a solo at the Grande Hotel des Balcons in the 5th for E85 a night, and as a double at the Hotel Saint Jacques in the 5th and Hotel St. Thomas D'Aquin on the border of the 6th and 7th. I liked all three, espcially the D'Aquin but I think it might now be outside of your budget. Have a great time.

I've stayed at the Grand Hotel des Balcons as well. Check out my review on my Paris page. Great location. Friendly staff and basic clean hotel. No problem staying alone in this hotel.
