Greetings to all. I am a new member trying this place out for the first time. It seems to have a great deal of information.

I will be traveling to Dubrovnik later this year and would like to find a hotel near the center of town that is not very expensive. I do not need fancy services and gilt edged goodies. Just a clean room with a the usual European small bath.

Hi, my info may be dated as I was in Dubrovnink a few years ago. But I would not necessarily limit your choices to the center of town (I guess you mean the historical area). We stayed outside the old town (can't remember the name of the hotel, and I did not write a tip as it was on my pre-VT times ;)). It was a lastminute offer so incredibly cheap and we were worried about the location. It turned to be just 30 min by bus to the old town so location was not really a problem...

If you are wanting to stay within the walls of the old town (which is a wonderful experience in itself), you won't find many hotels. The main type of accommodation is small apartments/pensions. We stayed in Apartments Placa for 5 nights last year and can highly recommend it. The owner Tonci is very helpful and readily contactable on email. You will also find many good reviews on this property from other travellers on TripAdvisor.
