Would love advice about Botanical Gardens and gardening groups
would love favorite Middle Eastern and North African (if any) restaurants
and a good gym as we will be there for two weeks..???

the city of gardens known more for its citrus festival, in France. Yes lovely city, not been there in a while, but you should see them all

i especially lke the Le Val Rahmeh gardens for its tropical mediterranean trees.
do not know middle eastern or african restaurants there, i eat at local ones like the L'Occitan or the Le Midi. NO knowledge of gym in the area !!)

Little late picking up this thread, but you are not that far from the botanical gem of the Hanbury Gardens - Giardini Hanbury - just the other side of the Italian border, at La Mortola. Magnificent setting and more than worth the effort

Also as well as aforementioned Menton sites (some of which are only by organised visits at certain dates in Summer - check tourist office) the Cactus collection high above Monaco is one of the best you'll see, in a quite extraordinary setting.

I'll pass on the North African cuisine - but there is a plenty in Nice.

When are you going? I was in Nice to drive around the surrounds for 3-4 days last February and had a great time - had timed it for the Fesitval of Nice and it turned out the Festival of Menton was on as well - and thats really popular.

There are a few lovely gardens around. Check out my tips on Eze, which is a lovely hilltop village not far from Menton with stunning cactii botanical gardens on top - stunning!
I found the Rough Guide for France a fabulous source of info on what to see, whats where and so on.

but do have a look around VTers pages on the destinations and surrounding locations that you want to know as you get all sorts of info - with pics!
