Copenhagen 12 hrs in copenhagen - what to do?
Posted: Tue December 30, 2008 09:07 PM UTC
Hi, I have a 12-hour layover in Copenhagen on 1 January and figure I might as well go out and have a look! I just wanna walk around and get a sense of the city, I figure most places will be closed for the holiday. Any tips for spending a day in Copenhagen? I read that the airport is only 15 minutes from the city center, so that's the way I plan to get into town.

Thanks,

Cheryl.

walking round is prob your best bet.

Take the metro to Kongens Nytorv and start from there.

Copenhagen is one of the most walkable cities in Europe!

Most Danes will be nursing hangovers and/or firework injuries.

january 1 is big hangover day in denmark and there is very little happening there.
it should be fine for a quiet walk though to check out the historical center.

like the previous post said taking the metro to "kongens nytorv" is a good idea.
from there you could spend a few hours walking through the old part of town and end up at the main train station where you have trains to the airport roughly every 20 minutes.

there is both a train station and a metro station at the airport and it's less than 20 minutes to the center of town by train or metro, so it's really fast and easy getting to town from the airport.
