We call them mopeds. They are powered biked and can be quite dangerous if you have no experience because we drive on the left. The roads are small and windy and although the speed limit ids 20mph - many go much faster. These mopeds don't have gears but can still cause problems. I would recommend against using them. Public transportation - bus and ferry and an occasional taxi are your best bet. Taxis can be costly.

I agree with hfdharris.
Consider public transportation unless you are very familiar with 'bikes' and can drive safely on what many consider the "wrong" side of the road.

Public transport is reliable and quite frequent in most locations. It is also inexpensive and convenient to purchase a 'bus pass' which allows you to use the ferries too as many times a day as you wish.

Have visited Bermuda several times and have always used the 'bus pass' but taxi's are also available and necessary to carry your luggage from and to the airport.

Enjoy your visit and unless you are very comfortable on bikes use the bus.

In answer to your question - it's just scooters or mopeds that are available to rent.

In reply to the other advisors - I am a regular visitor to Bermuda and am well aware that each year there are tourists who are injured or very occasionally killed while riding scooters.

That said, I always rent a scooter when I am in Bermuda. I make sure I observe the rules of the road. I take my time and I park the scooter if I am going to be drinking. So far, my only harm from the scooter is a little 'Bermuda birthmark' I got many years ago on the old style moped that did not have a cover over the exhaust pipe.

I love the freedom of the scooter - the ability to see the whole island if I choose and on my own schedule. There's nothing quite so wonderful to me as exploring around and then just deciding to pull over and take a dip into one of Bermuda's many beautiful beaches. I highly recommend the scooter as a great way to experience Bermuda.
