Is perurail on strike?
does train running to agua caliente(to visit M.P.)?
I am visiting M.P. in January and wonder if this will be affected.

No, not as far as I know. Haven't heard of strikes.

However, there have been some delays/cancellations lately due to bad weather (heavy rain). Equally with flights to/from Cusco.

Don't know about the strike, But train runs from Cusco to Aqua Calienta and you take a bus runs zig zag up hill to Machu Pichu. It is rainy season in January to April, but if you are not planning to hike in Inca Trail, and only walk around MP you should be OK.

As of August there was still no bus from Cusco to Aguas Calientes, the road has been closed for many years. Hiking the Inca Trail or the train are you only options.

I was there from Oct. 5-10 (Cusco), and the strike was only from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This meant that no stores could be open, no cars on the road (personal or taxi), no train running between 9 and 3. The good news is that the train to Aguas Calientes leaves at 7:30 in the morning, so we were good. It leaves at 3:30, or so, so you don't get back to Cusco until around 8 at night.
Suerte!
