French Polynesia Island hopping recommendations please!

We will be flying to Tahiti on 1 August, 2009 and want to visit several islands as day trips and possible stop overs. Can someone give us some information on hotels, ferries and flights? We'll be there for about 14 days.
Thanks, Dres

Hello !!

How lucky you are !!^_^
There is the Air Tahiti Pass and you will find more informations here: http://www.airtahiti.aero/articles.php?id=69

First of all, I will tell you to organize your own trip "à la carte" because it would be really cheapper !
For example, Tour Operator usually charge the room per night and per person. If you contact directly the hotel/guest house, you will discover most of them do charge the room only per night !

Therefore, if you do it on your own, the first step is to plan a first itinirary and ask for the airpass infos throught a travel agency and see with the travel agent the flights availability : August is full of tourists and flights are then full as well.

Then, if you can get the flights you wanted, you can start looking for accomodations.

Moorea --> there are a lot of nice guesthouses. I've choosed the Pension LINAREVA and asked for the Studio Plage n°4, which was a little house directly on the beach with a little kitchen. Sooooo nice !! You can even make barbecues !
Website: http://www.linareva.com/introA.html
You also have the Tiki Village where you can spend the night with a show and tahitien diner. We've missed it because a storm occured and created a power cut (no electricity in the whole island !)

Bora Bora --> this is such a beautiful place that we've decided to stay at the Sofitel Marara where we first booked an oversea deluxe bungalow. Then we've been in a garden bungalow. From the hotel, we walked along the road and found a beach of white sand wihtout anybody !! You can also take a transfert to the village where there are touristic shops but the most interesting one was Bora Bora | La Galerie where i bought a lot of local dishes (so cute but expensive)

Huahine --> is very beautiful, not that much touristic so it changes a lot.
We've stayed at the Pension Mauarii. Very nice but the room Iri Iri we've booked (on the beach) was soooo noisy at night (because of the waves) that i shall recommand a garden room. However, if the weather is bad in the FP, there are no activities available (the boats for sightseeing won't go out).

Rangiroa --> we stayed at the Novotel. We had a lovely bungalow on the beach (here again, it was a little noisy). Rangiroa is known for its Pearl farm that you can visit for free. Then you can buy pearls at very interesting prices !!

Tahiti --> We booked a room at the Sofitel which beach face directly Mooréa. There is a truck (bus) stop nearby to go the the city (don't miss the Hinano Shop). The only kind of tourism in Tahiti is the Green one. We've been on a 4x4 1 day tour in the center of the islands, discovering waterfalls, it was magic !
Patrick, the guide, was amazing and really professional !!
Here is his website: http://www.papeete.com/patrick/index.html

Unfortunatly, I have no info concerning the ferries.
Hope this would have helped you ^_^
