We've booked tpo go to Petra 3-6 April 2009 and wonder what climate at that time of year is generally like?
Either side of that, we are at Aqaba for several days so advice on climate there much apprciated also.

Aqaba is on the Red Sea, and in April should be warm and mostly sunny, but not too hot yet.
Petra is up in the mountains, and is definitely cooler than Aqaba; can be chilly at night.

the weather is really fine during that period mostly.
just be prepared that it can get a little chilly at night.

April is a great time to have a trip in jordan , is mild warm & it is a perfect time to swim in Aqaba.

Hi Betty: I was in Jordan for a week during April of 2005. The weather was ideal for travel in the desert. While at Petra it alternated between partly sunny and light rain - pack a rain poncho and/or small umbrella just in case. Water at both Gulf of Aqaba and Dead Sea was perfect temp. We long sleeve shirt over t-shirt and were comfortable at Petra and stuck to short sleeves in Wadi Rum and Amman. Nights do cool off but not to a level considered cold. Enjoy!
