What is the cheapest and the best way to there?I was once in Tangier ,but market was closed.I would like to buy some authentic clouthes, just in small shops no so good quality, but I saw same people bought really nice.Where?

Hi, it can be a little bit time consuming but with 4 of you sharing a taxi to Algeciras - 25 euro - or even over to Tarifa (which is only another 20 mins and maybe 15-20 euro) could work well - the high speed ferries are only 35 minutes from Tarifa but they leave only about every 2 or 3 hours so its best to find out the timetable and then meet the ferry. or if you find you have to wait then go see Tarifas fortress which is quite interesting.

The ferries from Algeciras -even the 'fast' ferry is not very fast and takes an hour and a half. If you feel you have the time then go over on one of these from Algeciras as it is quite a nice trip, but you have to be careful that you are buying your ticket for the first fast ferry going over and that its not a slow ferry ticket as the tickets are only for the boat the ticket is for - they are not interchangeable. and the companies might tell you that their boat is the first boat off when its not - there is a big departure board on the ground floor and it might help to check upstairs as well to see which is going when.

At this time of year it wont usually be necessary to buy tickets ahead.(ive never needed to at any time of year)

and then you could come back by fast ferry from Tangier to Tarifa - which the ticket includes a bus to meet everybody at Tarifa and transport them to the ferry terminal at Algeciras or another 5mins on to the bus station - and from there its just a walk around the corner to the bus to La Linea for about 2 euro one way takes 45 mins - and then 5-10 mins to Gibraltar.

or have a look at the boat timetables as theres actually a ferry that goes to Gibraltar via Tangier - thats not very often but I ended up on it and nearly didnt get off at Tangier when I was supposed to and they had to reopen the door and gangplank!

With 4 of you you can easily do your own trip then around Tangier and even get in a grande taxi and go see Asilah which is only 40-45 minutes away or go to the Grotto of Hercules in between Tangier and Asilah.

The main sites to see in Tangier itself is really only half a day - the grand market, the fortress above, the Church of England and its small cemetary. the American League museum if its open. Plus whatever time you want to spend shopping, having lunch etc. and lunch is good at Asilah or down on the seashore near the ferry port entrance. not so touristy.

You could always consider making it a 2 day trip and staying a night at Asilah which is lovely. There are som lovely apartments for rent around the medina - generally staff at the cafes can go find people who have places for rent and find something for you for not very expensive. About £20-£30 for a 2 bedroom apartment.
and there are nice seafood restaurants around.

The Lonely Planet on Morocco is an excellent guidebook to take with you for all sorts of info on the go. where to shop, where to eat, where to stay and so on. Not the end all but a big help. and then of course us here on VT.

All the best.
