Let me help you by Boipeba inquirying as well. Boipeba has no 5 star Hotel or resorts. You may try to find some lodgings (in portuguese "Pousadas") today using the links I am pasteing:

Brazilians really think american tourists has a lot of money and use to ask some dollars to serve them. Good luck!
Christmas and New Year are coming and demand may be high...

thanks, i wasking for cheap pousadas or INexpensive.yes, i have been harassed plenty by brazilians.it truly is harassment and i am talking about people who are running businesses.they can be very insistant and demanding.two guys also attempted to rob me in rio but i had the last laugh.i slugged them both and scared them so bad that they ran right into the fast oncoming traffic to get away from me.i realise however that i was lucky because they could have been armed and more capable.thank you for your reply!

I didn't write out to you: your electrical apparatus must be adapted to around 200V in Boipeba's island. Boipeba electricity characteristic is different from most part of Brazil.
Get sure on this Boipeba's service in order to not melt your gadgets.

You'd be better off getting some personal advice on whom to buy from than runnning around town in taxis to some out of the way places nor known personally. Go see Randy/Pardal at Cana Brava records in Pelourinho (http://www.bahia-online.net/aboutus.htm). He has a lot of personal music contacts all over town who can probably "make a price' for a friend of a friend. What kind of drum are you looking for? Djembe? Conga? Prices vary with style as well as craftsmanship. A cavaquinho too will vary with type of wood and craftsmanship, but a cheap one might be about R$200.
