Mexico City Romantic dinner/date in Mexico City
Posted: Thu December 18, 2008 09:13 PM UTC
I am planning to spend the holiday in Mexico and would like to surprise my BF by taking him to a romantic dinner/date while we're in Mexico City. It does not have to be expensive.
We both have never been to Mexico before. Thank you!

The Hacienda de Los Morales is very nice, its in an old hacienda, with wonderful old-school service.

you could also consider enting a boat in xochimilco and dine ion the boat.
this is not fancy dining, but having a boat totally to yourself on the canals does kinda have a venice feel to it and it's not that costly.
neither is the food there.
vt member mailianrob has a nice page from there with good photos:

the boat in xochimilco will be the best choice for romantic i think. however if more standard romantic venue is thought you can try the Brasserie Lipp (French food) at Andrés Bello, No.29, colonia( neighborhood) Polanco, classic area.

Well not so romantic place... but you should go to Condesa DF nice food, or have breakfast at HOtel Habita en Masaryk Ave.
The red Lounge at W HOtel is great for see nice people and the food in his restaurant is great.
Still dont know if the restaurant in the TOP of the World Trade Center is open it has a great view of the city.
- El Lago in Chapultepec is a restaurant with a view of the Lake

Thank you for all the responds. How do I get to xochimilco without joining the tour? Can I take a cab to and from? I will be staying in the reforma area.
THanks again!

in Reforma there is plenty of taxis all the time, easy to get you Xochimilco OR take the subway=metro like this
Take the metro (blue line #2) to the Taxqueña station and then take the light train (tren ligero) to the end of the line and the Xochimilco stop. From downtown, this trip takes between 60 to 90 minutes. From the Xochimilco train stop, you have a few options. There are several boat landings (embarcaderos) within walking distance including the Fernando Celada, Salitre, Caltongo and San Cristóbal landings.
