Taking your dog to Cuba is not something I would recommend.
What route would you take?
This from the Embassy of Cuba in Canada.
Bring a pet to Cuba
To bring a pet into Cuba, you should have its Health Certificate (vaccination record). A Notary Public should legalize this certificate and later his/her signature has to be authenticated by a governmental institution before sending it to any of our consulates (Notary Publics usually know where their signatures can be authenticated). If you send the certificate to our Embassy in Ottawa, then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at Sussex 125, must authenticate the document before coming to us.
This document should be translated into Spanish since this one is the official language in Cuba. If you translate the document somewhere else that in our Embassy or Consulates then the translation should be legalized and authenticated as well before sending it to us.
We offer translation services: $ 32.00 CAD (English into Spanish) and $ 48.00 CAD (Spanish into English). The fee is per page.
We should legalize both, the document you bring and the translation and each legalization is $ 160.00 CAD so the set (original and translation) is $ 320.00 CAD.
If you do not bring the documents personally and send them by the regular post or a courier, you should follow the following instructions:
- Send a photocopy of the main page of your passport
- Your pet’s health certificate
- A money order for the proper amount (depending if you required our translation services or not) plus a charge of $ 32.00 CAD for a non-in-person-procedure fee.
- A self-addressed pre-paid envelope so we can send the documents back to you
- A note with your full name, address/ phone #/ e-mail/ fax/ etc. so we can contact you in case we require some information from you.
Note: The translation into Spanish and the authentication of the document by the Notary Public and the corresponding Canadian governmental institution will be at the owner’s own responsibility and expenses.
