Morocco how books afftec your travel destination
Posted: Fri December 5, 2008 02:27 AM UTC
Hello,I cannot understand how books affect you to travel somewhere.I was reading lot of books .There stories make try to visit Morocco.I read the Ice Place which deals mainly with the importance a girl from the south of the States and Married with a boy from the north ,however was this marriage does not continue,as she misses the south which very important to her than the north .Also,I read the novel called '' The Alchemist'' by the Brazilian Paolo Coelho. Some parts of the book are about Morocco, mainly Tanger. In the book also ,there is a Journey by camels to search for the treasure which he thought was in Morocco , but when he arrives in Morocco ,he does not find that , so he was told it is in Egpt...
These 2 stories convinced me to think about travelling to Morocco next March.
What I'd like to know from other Vts is where to start my trip to Morocco.
what are the places I should not miss?Sure Tangier must be one part of my trip ;and the south, but there must be somewhere I should not miss.Help plz.
are there some cheap comapnies offering such trips?is there crystal in Morocco ?the book talks about crystal shops,so I want to see one of these shops if possible , if they exist in reality? you know lot of books are kind of fiction.
any suggestions are well appreciated.

I haven't read either of the books you mention but I have been to Marrakech, once. There are some wonderful crystals on sale all over, as well as fossils and other native rocks. Beware, there are some forgeries. I found sharks teeth glued on to a piece of sandstone to look like a crocodile jaw. The crystals are often geodes broken open - some are nice but others are not so nice. The not so nice ones I have seen dyed various bright colours, so bright they made me burst out laughing! Like any tourist let the buyer beware.

hey!I've read the last book you mention which is The Alchimist in Potuguese which is the mother tongue of the book and its writer,Coelho.I had the chance to see the writer in reality and that was in Asilah in north west of Morocco two years ago.Exactly, the book was a trip looking for treasure which can not be found , I believe it is an imagination of the writer himself ;but as Travellers I feel that soemtimes there is something that pushing you to do some as you mentioned about your expected trip to Morocco in March. In the book,it talks about long journey by camels to pyramids , something that can not happen as the long distance .Myself wanted to see just some of the book in reality and did a 2 days camel trek in the sahara desert of suth Morocco.Recently,I got the website of these people and it is roughtours.com .The treasure I feel myself wanted to get is to listen to the silence of the desert , and wilderness in a remote place. The crystals , think, exist in Morocco as I saw something like that in some shops if my eyes did not cheat me.I'm certain that Moroco is a fabulous country which must be visited and whatever months of holidays you have got,you can just see of it.Do not miss Marrakesh,Asilah, volubilis,Tanger ...these are some great places.
Hope you get some info ,may other Vts highlight this point.
cheers

If you click on Travel Guides above you will highlighted there popular destinations and from there you can continue looking into Travel pages put together by VTers on those various destinations around Morocco. Many of those pages are ranked in order of ratings received which can assist with finding best pages to look at but of course there are many or any of them are well worth looking at for the photos and info and passing on of VTers experiences and suggestions of what to see around Morocco.

All the best.
