hi mates! i will land on mauritius on monday ,i would like you to suggest me of a reliable and not extremely expensive tour operator in grand bay ,for cruising the northern islets (gabriel and flat) ,emphasizing in having plenty of time to swim and enjoy the secluded (?) beaches of BOTH the 2 islets ,not just one ,and that ,at a glance....
moreover ,i am thinking of renting a scooter (125 cc if possible)...can i explore the whole island on that vehicle?i mean ,are there sufficient fuel stations along the road ,and yet ,how long are the distances (f.e grand bay - gris gris or grand bay - trou d'aux douce) ?

Hi babyface - Can't help you with the cruising part, but we rented a car when we were there and had no problems finding fuel stations. The island is relatively small so you can cover north to south in a couple of hours. If you get a chance, rent the quads at L’Etoile and also go to Ile aux Cerfs - beautiful beaches (although not secluded) and plenty of watersports from there. Check my Mauritius pages if you like. I have just been to Mauritius as well and had an absolute time. We stayed in G-Baie and really enjoyed the night-life, clubbing, boat trips and excursions. We did rent a scooter one day but found it expensive rs 700!. We then found a car rental website online called DH Car rental Mauritius (www.dhcarrental.com) with very competitive rates at around 25 EUROS per day. We went all around the island, petrol stations are easy to find, and really discovered the real MAuritius.

Will surely go back again.
