Advise on hotel and location to stay
Posted: Wed December 3, 2008 01:50 PM UTC
Hello

We are a couple visiting hong kong for the week of New years eve. I had visited Hongkong as a kid and stayed in the Taikoo Shing area.

Can you suggest which would be a resonably priced hotel and the area most suited to tourists? We love to the night- street life and would like to use the MTR to get to surrounding areas.

Our budget is approx 100usd per night.

Thanks in advance
AG

I would stay in Kowloon in the Tsim Sha Tsui area. It's easy to get around with much street life. Some hotels, The Ymca on Salisbury road, BP International, The Royal Pacific. Go to http://www.asiarooms.com and http://www.agoda.com for great online rates. I've used both and they're great. If you book online you'll get much better rates. Enjoy!

Somewhere is TST or Jordan would suit your needs. The nights street market at Temple Street is 5mins walk away from Jordan MTR station.

Enjoy your trip.

I like the Holiday Inn Golden Mile in Kowloon on Nathan road. It is within easy walking distance of the Star Ferry, the waterfront and next to an MTR treminal. It may be a little higher priced, bu sometimes you can get a deal. It is also in the middle of the shopping.

I have stayed in Prudential hotel and i strongly recommend it for its location and generous room size. It sits atop the Jordan MTR directly and is easy to get to almost anywhere.

If you do not mind the older rooms, the older Shamrock hotel is just opposite Prudential at a fraction of the price.

BP International is nearby 5 min walk away. Rooms are small but decent looking.

For real budget stay I would recommend Dorsett Seaview for its location neat Temple Street and 10min walk to Yau Ma Tei MTR. Rooms are very small and old but is well located and fits well within your budget.

Do check out hoteltravel.com, booking.com as they do offer quite good deals!

Have fun!
