Fuengirola Your advice

Hello. We will be in Fuengirola near Malaga from 28.12 to 9.1.2009. Of course we wont to see all : Malaga, Sevilla, Ronda , cordoba ... But my husband likes nature. What about parks and botanic gardens, interesting places ? Do you know how we can go there ?
Please, your advices... And I would like to go to see Flamenco dance. Perhaps, it is possible in Malaga or Fuengirola ? And where can we go for NY ? In our country NY is the biggest holiday. Please your recomendations? We are from Russia, and we are nearly 50.

There are some very nice parks and Gardens both in the city of Malaga and also nearby.

http://www.andalucia.com/cities/malaga/parks.htm

It is also worth spending time time in the city for the old town, museums and galleries and the castle.

Ronda is an easy drive from Fuengirola should you plan to hire a car.

There is a good net work of bus routes and services from Malaga, though you may need to start your journey with a local bus.
From Fuengirola you could take the bus to the popular pretty villages of Mijas and Ojen. They are rather touristy but still attractive and may not be too busy at this time of the year.

It is possible that you will see coach trips advertised in Fuengirola for day visits to Seville, Cordoba and Granada - they were certainly available in the summer and it would be worth taking one of these as they usually include guided tours.

It is about some since I spent some time in the area of Grazalema the protected natural park area, the village of the same name and other villages nearby like El Bosque. We were travelling between San Pedro de Alcantara and Cadiz in our own card during the month of February. It is very beautiful and on the journey to Cadiz we had a lovely day on which to enjoy it. On the rain the low cloud and heavy rain reduced visibility so much that driving was very difficult.

here are some useful links - the first has infornation about travelling by bus, the other two have general information.

http://www.fuertehoteles.com/guia/tourism/grazalema/bus.htm

http://www.andalucia.com/environment/protect/grazalema.htm

http://www.slowtrav.com/spain/andalusia/grazalema_natural_park.htm

You should be able to make yourself understood if just buying tickets, refreshments etc. But I think you would get a better reception if you at least take with you a good Spanish phrase book for reference, one that will slip in your pocket. If you learn some of the courtesies - please, thanks, greetings, numbers, etc. it will make life smoother even if the response comes in English!

Sorry, I am not clear about your last point re NY.

From Malaga try visiting Parque Natural Montes de Malaga and Parqe Natural Torcal de Antequera.

Think you. I've seen about EL Torcal and how to get there. But Parque Natural Montes de Malaga isn't described in the map near Malaga, and perhaps you know where the entrance in it is. Is it open-lands near Malaga or not ?

And about my plans(Google-map) :
I can't decide what's more intresting, and what I can miss
Trip : from Malaga - Nerja - Granada - (??) Lancha Genil - Pinos Genil(go back to Granada, another road)- A92 - (?? see photos! lake Iznajar(A333 ) - Antequera - El Torcal - ??? El Chorro (is possible to drive between A343 and A357 do you know ? - Ronda - Parque Almeda del Tajo - Parque Dehesa del Mercadilo(where ?) - la Cuevo de la Pileta (is it interesting, if Nerha is in my plans too ?) - Granzalema - El Bosque - Arcos de la Fronteras(?) - Jeres de la Fronteras(horses) - Sevilla - Parque Donana(! flomingo!where entrance ? What side of the river ?) - Cadiz -Barbat(Park Natural)- Tarifa - my hotel in Fuengirola
How divide my plan for days and where to stay for nights(in what place is more intersting ?). Please !!! Your advices !!!

Parque Natural Montes de Malaga has several routes of access. The frsit is from inside Malaga itself and unless you know it is impossible to find, we searched for it for over an hour without ever finding it. Eventually we took the highway toward Antequera and entered from there, that is go north from Malaga and then turn off eastward, toward Colmenar. From there we found signs.
But if you have time for only ONE park there, then choose Torcal over Montes. You can see some photos of both on my pages.

Your advices are very-very helpful for my. Now I undestand El Torcal is the most interesting, and I've seen photos of Park near Ojen the Refugio del Juanar. It's the forest in fact, we'll go there, it's not far from Fuengirola, Malaga montes are clear now too. Inf. about Granzalema is very practical.
It's my first foreign forum, I've got its http from one russian girl living abroud and I'm very glad to receive so much information.
