Sorrento Travelling from Sorrento to Rome

We were under the impression that we would have to travel from Sorrento to Naples and then on to Rome but is it possible to travel straight to Rome? We are travelling on a Sunday and so are concerned that the transport may be limited. If we can travel straight from Sorrento to Rome that would be far better.

Hello,

I believe you must go through Naples and then catch the train onto Rome. Trenitalia does not offer a direct train. I do know there is a commuter train that goes from Sorrento to Naples station. This is the one you will have to use. The trip is about an hour. From Naples to Rome is 1.5-2 hours depending on the train you take.

Unless you are traveling on a holiday you should have no problem getting seats on the train. Make your reservation from naples to Rome as soon as you get to Italy and you will have no problems.

As I noted on your other thread, you will have no problems whatsoever.

Simply take the frequent and inexpensive Circumvesuviana train from /sorrento to Napoli Centrale station, where you will get the train to Rome.

http://www.vesuviana.it/Reteeorari/Ferrovia/Orario

give timetables (Linea Napoli>Sorrento).

Services are not so reduced on Sundays as to cause you any problems.

www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html will give you details of trains from Naples to Rome.

There may be some bus services from Sorrento to Rome run by this company:

http://www.marozzivt.it/

It should give you timetables and fares. However, the site is only in Italian and does not list any Sunday services at present.
