Nice REASONABLY PRICED GROCERY STORES
Posted: Tue November 25, 2008 08:03 PM UTC
We're actually in Theoule-sur-Mer which is closer to Cannes. Looking for reaonably priced grocery stores along the French Riveria. Do they exist? H-E-L-P!

When on holiday in France I normally shop for foods at Super-U supermarkets, because there are really many of them even in small towns. I see there is one in Nice. In this webpage you will find the address and also a link to a map:

I also like Super-U but most French supermarkets give good value for money. I don't think you will have to look too far in Nice to find a Lidl or an Aldi or any of the other cost-cutter stores.

I searched Thoule-sur-Mer on the web and I have found there is a supermarket there. It is called Superètte de la Corniche d'Or, and is located in le
Troyas.

We favor Casino supermarkets. SuperU is good and so is Carrefour. In any downtown area, look for the sign saying "Epicerie" which is a small grocery store. The prices should be okay in all of these. If you buy local brands, the prices will be more reasonable. Looking for imported things that you use at home, will always be more expensive.

When all else fails, ask at your hotel where to grocery shop.

Hope you are enjoying your trip. Lovely area.

The Riviera has the same supermarket prices as anywhere else in France. The advice above is good. If you have a car, you might want to visit Lafayette Gourmet at Cap 3000 in St Laurent du Var. Not the cheapest, but easily the best supermarket I've seen.

if you are there, ask anyone for supermarché, they will tell you. Even try the English after some effort in French ,they will glad to help you. All previous brands are all over France, and then some local ones, small ones too. Cannes has plenty to offer.Additonal name for you are intermarché, Champions,Auchan,Leclerc,Casino, etc etc. small ones are Coccinnelle and Proxi, all with branches in the area you are now.

Casino and Mini Casino are normally easy to find and offer reasonable value as do E Leclerc stores. Super U is cheap as is Lidle "ED" is another cheap place to shop
