Eritrea Ferry between Eritrea and Yemen wanted
Posted: Tue November 25, 2008 03:32 PM UTC
Hi,
I would like to land by plane in Asmara, Eritrea. From there I could go to Massawa. Than I want a boat/ferry-transport to Yemen.
1. I wonder whether I could get a ferry from there to any Yemeni port?
Al Hudaydah for example.
Finally I wana travel to Sana'a, the Yemeni capital.
Thank you and hope you are having a good trip.

I haven't heard of any official transport across the Red Sea from Eritrea to Yemen...you might be lucky and find a dhow heading over to Yemen, but whether this is a legal way for you to enter Yemen is debatable. The two countries are not the best of pals (there was a land dispute over the Hanish Islands not so long ago).

However, I did see a passenger ship in the Yemeni port of Al-Mokha leaving for Djibouti, so if you are determined to do the journey by sea, Djibouti is the best place to head for...long and difficult overland trip though!

Yemenia Airlines flies between Sana'a and both Djibouti and Asmara.

Hope this helps ;@P
