Only 2 weeks beforehand? You've left it late: some inoculations take a while to become fully efficient. It is best to visit your GP for travel medication/inoculations well before your departure date (not least because you don't want to be on holiday with a stiff arm/feeling a bit poorly).

Still.

Have a look at this NHS page:

http://www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk/destinations/gambia.htm

It will tell you exactly what to expect.

the most important thing is to avoid malaria. I don#t know where you're from (UK?. Doxicyclin is promoted by WHO; but in Germany e.g. not licensed for Malaria.

What about Tetanus, Hepatitis, Polio? Are they all update? That is very necessary.

Anyway I wish you a grat time, and if something's wrong with your condition, go to Lamtoto Clinic in Kololi. t is expensive but the best so far.

When going to the Gambia, get all the jabs and tablets you need.

I have known 2 people, who after a holiday in the Gambia, have died within a fortnight of returning home because they did not take any medication.
I have been to the Gambia and it is lovely, the people are great, lots to see and do and the World’s nastiest mozzies, these buggers bite hard and often.

Take care.

the major jab you will need is yellow fever, after that typhoid, tetanus, hepatitis a. malaria is recommended if you are going up river, if you are just staying on the coastal belt then it is not necessary. a good Deet based repellent s a must as like the previous answers said the mossies are big bu##ers and yes they do bite hard.
we were there February and were told this by the resident hotel nurse.

According to my Gambian husband, issue No. 1 is still Malaria. Yellow Fever is quite occasional in the rural areas. Anywy, I always have my vacc updated, it's only once in 10 years
