Hi. I need to park our car for our one week stay. We are staying at 6 quai Gailleton 69002 Lyon. I really don't care where we park it. I just want some place really really cheap, free. I'll park it way out and take public transportation back in if need be. Or if there are deals for a one week parking deal near our apt. that would be cool. The lady who is renting us her place said it 25 euro a day. No way are we paying that:)

The City of Lyon has a very anti car policy, in that they do now want cars in the city. They have gone to great lengths to provide for public transport to and within Lyon so you don't need a car. Unfortunately, they Lyon tourist website is not that useful in finding parking in the suburbs. You may want to try contacting some of the suburb hotels like Ibis and see what they recommend for parking.

25 euros is expensive even for Lyon, normal is about 7-10 euros when renting a hotel, now an apartement you are left with public open parking or covered parking and they can be that expensive and more. You do not want to leave your car on any street, it can be fine for illegal parking and tow away for a much expensive visit.
However, i know the city well, you are at Quai Docteur Gailleton, 2nd Arrondissement, or sector of Lyon, and very near place Bellecour to your right and train station penache to your left, parking public is at the place bellecour, handle by Vinci Park, very well known all over France and I used them exclusively for business and pleasure in France. the best deal is to park at the new parking, la Fosse aux Ours, located on the other side of the Rhone River (compared to your Quai Gailleton, close to Pont (bridge) de la Guillotiere. To avoid much traffic in the presqu'ile (between rhone and saone) this big covered and controleld parking has been opened
rate is 1.55 euro per hour between 8am and 8pm, then 3.85 euros from 8pm to 8am
there's no free coveted and guarded parking in downtown; you can find free parking in some streets outside the very center, but might be snowy, and not 100% safe (as evrywhere)
