Belize Solo belize trip

I am going to Belize at the end of march/beginning of april. I will be going there on my own and although i have traveled many times on my own i still have a few questions.
how easy is it to get around.
how safe is it for a young woman to travel alone around the country.
any places recommended (I am looking for both a little adventure and some relaxing beach time)
anything that you feel might help would be great.

The time youhave chosen is just the right time. You should be able to get enough sunshine! It is very easy to get around and the people are friendly and helpful. Like everywhere else you need to be careful more so in the city but otehrwise it is safe. Cay Caulker has a village atmosphere while San Pedro is more populated and visited. Placencia is also a good, quiet place. Although all the districts have some attractive San Ignacio is well visited. Cha Creek is a nice resort perhaps pricey but not sure what sort of accommodation you looking for. Inthe area there are from low ( expect to get what you pay for ) to high price accommodation. San Ignacio and surroundings are eco tourism while CAye Caulker, San Pedro and Placencia have the sand sea and sun to offer. Well I am from Belize overall you should enjoy your stay.

Its pretty easy to get around Belize and is done mostly through local buses (ie school busses not charters). They are cheap and fairly reliable.
Belize is almost entirely english speaking so that certainly helps in making things easier.
Caye Caulker is a fun relaxing place and some where we liked.....its a 45 minute water taxi from Belize City away. Boats leave pretty much every hour back and forth (cost $10 approx).
San Ignacio is about a 3 hr bus from Belize City through the capital belmopan - worth a few days spending there. Check out JR's for a decent well run place to stay ($12/night).
From here you can also step into Guatemala and go see Tikal. You can do this in a day trip but I suggest staying in Flores for a night or two and going to the ruins from there. Return to San ignacio can take about 3 hrs on local transport - collectivos.

Of course like any adventure you'll meet up with others and can travel together if schedules work.

A great country and very low key. Picture perfect beaches are hard to find .....however Placencia seems to be a viable option for sunning (although I havent bee there).

Good Luck.
A
