Uruguay colonia del Sacramento

I am thinking about going to Colonia from BA for 1 day with my bicycle. How far is the beach from the town? Are there any worthwhile places to visit in the area that are "bicyclable" from Colonia?

The town is on the water. Playa Ferrando, a very scenic beach in a small bay about 15 minutes scooter ride out from the city center. Not sure how long it would take you by bike. If you can get a map from the Thrifty Car Rental office the beach is clearly marked on it. There are many small country roads that would make for nice a bike ride. Just grab a map and go.

Hi,

The nearest beach is 500mts from the historical site and port of Colonia. From there, you have about 600kms of beaches. I don't know what distance is "bicyclable" for you, but about 20kms from Colonia is Parque Brisas del Plata. It's difficult to get there if you don't know the place but (in my opinion) is one of the most beautiful places and well kept secrets of Colonia. Totally an "off the beaten track" beach.
To get there you have to take Route 21 to Carmelo and follow the signs (I hope they are still there).
Regards,

Rafa
