Tibet Going to Tibet
Posted: Wed November 12, 2008 04:23 AM UTC
Hi guys,

I'm wondering if the restrictions are still in effect for foreingers going to Tibet now?
I plan to go in early December. Can anyone lead me in the right direction to find train tickets/schedules from Shanghai to Tibet?
Also, can a person go individually or do they need to be part of a tour group?
If anyone knows a decent place to stay in Lhasa that would be great too.

Thanks,
The wanderer.

The tibet 4373km far away from shang hai .this time schedule for you :http://english.dreams-travel.com/guide/tibet/shtolhasa.htm
The tibet now more safe to for travel all occasion is over now .you should be safe .god blesing you .
my advise for you go to The Lhasa Hotel :about the hotel :The Lhasa Hotel, covering an area of 70,532 meters, is an international four star hotel in Tibet. Just down the road from the hotel is the Norbulingka, the Summer Palace, and only 10 minutes away by car is the center of the “Holy City” where you can see the mysterious Potala Palace.
The hotel has 455 comfortable guest rooms and suites. All are equipped with a private bath andshower , satellite TV with CNN, IDD, and an electronic key. Oxygen is supplied if needed.

"decent place" means different things to different people.

I stayed in the Jin Bo Hotel, a short walk from the historic Barkhor area. It is a newer modern hotel. The posted price for a double room was 580 rmb back in June 2006 but I paid 200 rmb which included either a Chinese or western breakfast. The western breakfast was fantastic!

I have more info as a Lhasa tip including photos, address, and directions.
