Sounds very much like a scam to me...she is being 'held against her will' yet she is able to go online, or make contact with someone who can??

Sounds like the "stuck in a Nigerian hotel" e-mail scam: http://www.indiatime.com/2008/01/25/stuck-in-nigerian-hotel-email-scam/
What would you do if you owed money to a hotel and they wouldn't let you leave (even to go to a bank to get money to pay it!).. but you had access to e-mail? Would you not contact the police/your embassy/someone you know - rather than, one would assume, a complete stranger? Why would they ask in £ sterling?!

Whilst there are still people willing to send money to unknown others then, sadly, there will still be internet scams.

man I am glad I found this site I have recently been contacted by a woman named Anna at the Adesba Int Hotel in Abeokuta Ogun Nigera and she has told me that she is being held by the hotel because she owes them 500.00 and wants me to send her the money and then she will come back to the states to be with me since I saved her from this horrile ordeal. She even sent a few pics she is hot but I noticed when she writes her english is not what it should but she says she is from Florida. I was really thinking about sending the money becuz she sounded so despearate and I was starting to believe her but the more I think about it the more it sounds like a scam I mean how would she have access to a computer and why cant she call our embassy for help and would a hotel just let her stay it seems like they would just call the police and put her jail for not paying her bill.

Exactly.

Once one starts to think through the logic of such scams, it rapidly becomes clear that they are scams.

I have just had this also, the first one or two e-mails with photos of hot girl seemed ok, but then the poor english and other things highlighted a scam. I cut and past some words into google from one of her e-mails and sure enough it registered as scam dating. I played along and had some fun teasing them, to see how far they would go, they have now asked for the money and I told them I sent it and they cannot locate it at their end. Bless.
