South Lake Tahoe Travel Forum

Hello All,
I am planning a trip to S. Lake Tahoe in December and wondered if there were any suggestions for getting around there. We don't really want to rent a car and I looked at the local bus transportation, bluego, and it looks like they only go to Heavenly ski resorts, however we may want to go to other places as well, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Probably the only places you'll want to go are your hotel, the casinos, and the ski lift. Depending on the hotel, these may all be within walking distance of each other. In the summer I would say rent a car and drive around the lake and rent bikes and go hiking, but in winter, you might be happy without driving. There are plenty of restaurants in the casino/motel area, and plenty of cabs.

Agreed, most things in South Lake are within walking distance. Depending on where you stay, there may be coutesty shuttles. Regardless the front desk will be able to point you in the right direction.

If you want to go to some other locations around the lake [Incline Village, Trukee, etc.] without driving yourself, look up "TART" (Tahoe Area Regional Transit). They offer buses in/around the lake basin.
