Cheap accommodation in Barcelona Posted: Tue November 4, 2008 09:37 AM UTC
Hi
We are 2 girls and will be in Barcelona from 3-5 April 2009. We have never been there before so want to see as much as possible. All we want is to know where we could get a cheap room with 2 beds and a bathroom. We really do not have lots of money, so would appreciate your help here.
Also, we travel back to London from Barcelona on 5 April - Does anybody have an idea of what the cheapest flight from Barcelona to London would be?

Hi, if you have so few time and not much money, I think it would be better for you to choose an accomodation near city centre: there are lots of little pensions and 'hostales' in Placa Catalunya area, and at any prices: you could try checking some on 'www.booking.com', a very safe site with good prices and many users reviews... In alternative, another good site for hostels in Barcelona can be this: http://www.infohostal.com/en/
From Barcelona-Reus there are 3 daily Ryanair flights to London (2 to Stansted, 1 to Luton) and prices are usually cheap: www.ryanair.com
If you prefer leaving from Barcelona el Prat to Gatwick or Heathrow, Iberia has some good seasonal offers: www.iberia.com

Re: Cheap accommodation in Barcelona Posted: Tue November 4, 2008 10:48 AM UTC
Hi,
I have been to Barcelona twice and both times I stayed at the Ibis Hotel , Babera Del Valles
http://www.ehotel.de/en/ibis-barcelona-sant-andreu-de-la-barca-3445.html
It is a standard hotel and is about 60 euros a night for a room. I don't know how much it would cost if you are taking 2 kids although we were given a cotbed free of charge. It is about 30mins by train into Barcelona. Also there are several other hotels nearby Novotel, etc I think which are in the same price range. Each time I travelled with Ryan air and you can get really cheap tickets to Girona Barcelona. Taxis and buses are quite cheap out there too . I hope this is a bit helpful sorry if it's not.

Hi there! 3'5 April is only 2 nights in BCN. It is not enough to feel the pulse of this incredible city. 3 night 4 days recommended. stay in the centre. All interesting is there at a walking distance. Hostal double room could cost you 60 euro and the flight by Ryanair to London probably the same if you book now ) will be still low season, before Easter. I’d like to recommend you Born area with its good restaurants, live music cafes and museums. Try Banys Orientals (a little bit more, 90euro=, or Arthostal, just 60. Greetings

A business associate is offering atmospheric accommodation just a stone's throw from Sants railway station and he has pictures of shattered shop windows to prove it. Ergonomic flat beds, a delightful pierced metal canopy ("Barcelona Design" at its finest) and skateboarding thrills and spills are thrown in for free.

I have a friend who had been in the Hostal Grau. They have rooms and apartments for rent and it's really cheap, besides, it's in the HEART of Barcelona, or as the Catalonian people say "al rovell de l'ou" (direct translation from the catalan: at the egg yolk).
Here you have the website, but don't be impressed for the pictures, as it's older that what it looks like.
http://www.hostalgrau.com/php/index.php
You can try also the Hotel Banys Orientals, it's a little bit more expensive but much more beautiful, and the relationship quality/price is really good. It's also very well located, in the Gothic area of the city.

About looking for cheap flights, try with this page.

Hi! Have you ever checked Visit Barcelona?
I was in Barcelona last year with my friends and we rented an apartment from this company. It is really clean and also you can find everything that you could need. There was a special discount and it was very economical for us. Apartment was located in the centrum. I surely recommend it.
Good luck!

When i went to Barcelona i flew with Easy jet from Luton Airport which was great. From St Pancras there is a direct train to Luton Airport Parkway train station so its dead easy!
As for accommodation you could try http://www.apartamentsurgell.com/
The rooms are cheap, modern and clean and they're right in the centre. also if you go in April you should hopefully get some nice weather. if so its great as the apartments have some great terraces.
hope you both have a great time!

If you want cheap - it is better to rent a room in Barcelona. The first day i stayed at cheapest hostel en Ramblas and paid 70 euros per night...for just sleeping and leaving your luggage - it was very expensive, cos i spent the biggest part of the time outside...so the next day i looked through different forums and found that i could rent a room by 25 euros per night, that was what i did - the rest of the days i stayed at a room of the apartment of one russian woman, the apartment was just in the centre, close to Ramblas and Catalunya sq., and the landlady was very friendly. Here is her email: r_s_2002@mail.ru and her number +34 634836266, her name is Rena. Good luck!

I flew ryanair last month from Girona to Stansted. We booked in advance and got the flight fare for free just pay the taxes. pretty good deal :>
We stayed at Hostal Mare Nostrum, located right in the middle of Las Ramblas. You can check their price http://www.hostalmarenostrum.com/reserva.php?IDIOMA=ENG

I'd recommend staying in Eixample, as it's the safest/most central neighborhood. Everything's within walking distance, and there are a lot of great bars and restaurants.
Try www.somniohostels.com - it's a great place for female travelers
www.hostaloliva.com - great location, charming
For cheap flights easyjet and ryanair are your best bets, but do note that ryanair only flies into Girona and Reus which are both over an hour from Barcelona by bus (Girona's closer than Reus though).
