Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Paraguay Help! (Also posted in Bolivia)
Posted: Tue October 28, 2008 05:12 PM UTC
I posted this question on another website with only some questions answered. I was hoping someone here (or in the Paraguay forum) could help me with the rest.

I need help with my itinerary for January 2009. This is what I have so far, all the information I have is from these forums. I am wondering if anyone is able to help me fill in the blanks? I've done lots of research on these forums but I am unable to find everything that I think I need.

Buenos Aires to Iguazu Falls - 18 hours - 180AR - http://www.omnilineas.com/argentina/bus/retiro/puerto-iguazu/
Igazu Falls to Asuncion - 6 hours - $10USD - www.nsa.com.py/Destinos.html
Asuncion to Concepcion - 8 hours - $20USD - www.senatur.gov.py
Concepcion to Pedro Juan Caballero - 4 hours - $11USD - website?
Pedro Juan Caballero to Pantanal - How long? - Cost? - website?
Pantanal to Santa Cruz - How long? - Cost? - website?
Santa Cruz to Rurrenabaque - 20 hours - Cost? - website?
Rurrenabaque to Lake Titicaca/Copacabana - How long? - Cost? - website?
Lake Titicaca/Copacabana to La Paz - 4 hours - Cost? - website?
La Paz to Cochabamba - 7 hours - $4USD - website?
Cochabamba to Sucre - 10 hours - 60 BS - website?
Sucre to Potosi - 3 hours - $17USD - website?
Potosi to Salar de Uyuni - 7 hrs - $5USD - website?
Salar de Uyuni to Villizon - 9hrs - cost? - website? <-- train
Buenos Aires - 26hrs - Cost? - website?

Most of the time frames are for buses. I am open to taking trains as well.

I understand that I may have to take certain cities off the plan due to political instability. I would be very grateful for any information that people have for this. Also, any suggestions on how long to stay in each location (other than Buenos Aires).

Thank you!!!

How long to stay depends of course what you are planning to do.

For Iguazu: at least on full day at the Argentinean side of the falls and if you want another one in Brazil or to do something different like visiting the Wanda Mines

happy travels

80% of Pantanal is on brazilian jurisdiction. The remaining 20% are bolivian or paraguayan. The smaller part is paraguayan and is named by Chaco.
The brazilian Pantanal spots are in Corumbá, Miranda (fishing), Bonito, Coxim
(sport in rapids), Cuiabá... The rain season is October to February.
Parque Nacional do Pantanal is a nice sightseeing in Brazil. You may contact the brazilian authorities by Fax--> (65) 648-9150, or e-mail--> parnapantanal@hotmail.com or parnapantanal.MT@ibama
* Brazil is reforming Pantanal railway. Trains for tourists will be ready for
moving on May, 2009. I am attaching some links concerned in brazilian
Pantanal:

Nowadays the crossing border Brazil/Bolivia is in Corumbá, and Brazil/Paraguay
crossing border is in Porto Murtinho.

I'm puzzled by your understanding that you "may have to take certain cities off the plan due to political instability", and don't believe that any such concern is necessary. Enjoy your trip!

For bus travel with in Argentina and some international destinations
http://www.omnilineas.com/

For the train in Bolivia www.fca.com.bo

In Copacabana, BO you can find tour agencies on Av. 6 de Agosto. But for most of the bus information for Bolivia you can find at this website www.boliviabus.com

And you want a train to Buenos Aires? I think you would find the bus a much better choice.

I would suggest you study the travel pages here for each of your intended stops to gather some additional information and you should find answers to all your questions within.

suerte
