Hi Emma,

The easiest job to get in Ko Tao is as a Dive Instructor. Ko Tao is basically a dive island and so if you have experience in diving, its pretty easy to score at one of the many dive shops around there or dive equipement shops (there is one big shop near the pier). Night life in Ko Tao is basically dead expect a few low key bars. Restaurant job is usually filled with locals.

If you are a doctor or medically qualified, there is a emergency dive/clinic/hospital near the pier which you can try.

Cheers

THe short answer is "impossible"

the longer answer is "still impossible"

With the exception of a few jobs such as English teaching or maybe scuba instructor, menial jobs are reserved for Thais. Is if google the govt web site you'll see a list of jobs that foreigners can do.
casual work is illegal without a work permit.
also should bear in mind that the minimum wage in most areas is about 160 baht per 10 hour day 96/7 day week)....can you compete with that?
