Weather in Israel Posted: Mon October 27, 2008 03:34 PM UTC
Hi all
I will be visiting Jerusalem and Tiberias in mid-Nov? Can anyone advise me on the weather in Israel during this period of time? Do I need to wear any thick winter clothes?
Many thanks in advance!
Regards

the northern part of israel can be a little chilly and windy with some rain in november, so pack at least a light jacket.
the south is warm during the daytime, but can get quite cold at night as it has desert climate.

Hi Theresa,
I have fond memories from Singapore (2007)!
I see that this is not your first visit to Israel.
Jerusalem and tiberias have very different climates. Jerusalem is in the Judean Hills, approx. 600 m above sea level, and you can expect quite cool temperatures (10-18 centegrade), wind and a few rainy days. A warm sweater / jacket is certainly necessary, more so in the evenings.
Tiberias is in the Jordan valley, 200 m below see level. The weather should be pleasant there in November, considerably warmer than Jerusalem, and rain is infrequent there.
Enjoy your visit,
Ilan

Ilan's answer is exactly correct. You can accept what he says. Warmish jacket or sweater, umbrella in Jerusalem. Tiberius warmer and much less chance of rain.

Hi Ilan
Thanks - yep, I visited Israel in 2002, but that was in end Feb, early Mar. But this time, I am actually visiting Egypt, Israel and Jordan in mid-Nov. I expect the weather to be different but we don't want to pack too much winter clothes lest the weather gets warm.
Thanks for your advice!

Actually the weather in November and in early March is not much different.
If you are in the Tel-Aviv area you can give me a call if you want: 054-4715811.

I see you have some excellent answers to your question already. A few additions though. The weather can be EXTREMELY variable, especially in Jerusalem which sits at about 1,000 meters height, Tiberius, sheltered in the valley of the Sea of Galilee is more moderate. You should not require "thick" winter clothes, even in deepest winter here. What you may need is layering, a number of thiner layers of clothing that you can add or peel off according to your needs. A good windbreaker/raincoat would be a good idea also that you could put on over a sweater if needed.
If you need actual temperatures you can check out some statistics at this web site> http://www.theweathernetwork.com/statistics/C00706/wbxx0001
One more thing...why only Jerusalem and Tiberius, what about the most beautiful part of Israel ---- the SOUTH ^O^
Enjoy,
Martin

Hi
Thanks to all your replies. Actually, I would be passing Eilat (though this time I won't be stopping at Dead Sea).
On the other hand, I would be visiting Mt Hermon. How's the weather there? Is it snowing at this time of the year?

Shalom again. It would be very unusual for snow to appear on Mount Hermon in November, usually the beginning of the snow season (if it happens) is December.
Enjoy your visit (even if you are NOT visiting our desert ;o))

Yes I agree, I am here just now! and its nice and warm in day time time, then at night it gets cool, and light jacket is ample. During the day the beaches are beautiful like summer in Europe! I havent been North yet so I don t know.
