hi everybody!
i'm thinking about going to cairns for 6 months (octobre - march 09)to learn english.
maybe you could tell me sth about Carins, are the people friendly etc?
i know that cairns is not so big, but is it interesting enough to stay there for 6 months?
if i went there in octobre - march, i know that there will be summer time, is it very hot every day there? i think it would be very strange to me to sweat on chrismas instead of having snow... :D
and i wanted to ask if cairns is a cheap or an expensive place to be.
please tell me sht about cairns :D

Hi, welcome to VT - and your English is very good :-)

You don't tell us anything about yourself - whether you think Cairns is hot depends what you're used to. Whether you would find it interesting for six months depends what interests you. Whether you think it's expensive depends on where you come from.

It's only small, about 100,000 population, so there's less to do than in a big city.

Australians are known for their friendliness and Cairns is no different from other parts.

Summer is the wet season, so it will be warm to hot, very humid and with plenty of rain. There is the possibility of cyclones in that season too.

Hi Cairns is a large place, approx 75,000 people in the district which significently increases during the dry season ( tourist season) The best time in Cairns is Mid April to early October, less humidity.

I would recommend the noth coast of New South Wales for better weather around Christmas, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie etc etc. Check these places on VT pages.
