Hello, We will be traveling in Egypt and Jordan and want to be respectful of the customs. As such, we are packing long pants and long sleeved shirts. We will be finishing our trip at the Movenpick resort on the Dead Sea and were wondering if shorts are acceptable at that location.

Most definitely. You would be surprised at the attire of the tourists in Egyptian seaside resorts. Bikinis are worn, people go swimming, there are bars & alcohol as well. The locals aren't as sensitive as you might think. In general terms you should be moderate in your dress when walking around the major cities such as Cairo & when visiting mosques. But other than that enjoy your vacation.

Just realized you were talking about Jordan, but my advice remains the same.

i was there just last week and itīs perfectly ok with shorts, swinwear, etc.
only topless and naked would be unacceptable there.

DO NOT WORRY ABOUT IT. IN RESORTS YOU SHORTS, BIKINIS ARE ACCEPTABLE. ONLY IF GO TO MOSQUES OR SACRED PLACES, YOU WILL HAVE TO WEAR LONG SLEEVES. THEY ARE A REAL NICE PEOPLE! THEY ADVISE YOU WHAT TO WEAR IF NEEDED. ENJOY YOUR STAY THERE!
