Cabo San Lucas I'm not a typical gringo, but I travel with a couple of em'.

I am a traveler, not a tourist. My guy and I are all about trying new things & I speak a little bit of spanish and enjoy doing what the locals do, but i am going with a group of slightly close minded people! Lame, but I am looking for an awesome bar/lounge/club to have drinks and get them nice 'n happy! Where do the locals go? What do the locals drink? I really want to experience the town, not just buy a postcard and take a picture! What is a MUST SEE? Is there any spanish phrases I NEED to know... besides, no ice & where's the bathroom... THANKS!

Well Cabo is a pretty much a tourist town anyway you look at it. If you would like a more Mexican experience I would suggest going to San Jose, the Tropicana there is a good restaurant with live entertainment at night.

If you are staying in Cabo and want someplace to get “happy” there are plenty of places. During the day (or night) Mango Deck and The Office on Medano beach are popular & fun spots although a bit pricey. For the same location but less expensive food and drink try Tabasco’s a bit further down the beach next to the Club Cascadas Resort. If you saw the movie “Don’t Mess with the Zohan” the beginning was filmed here. You can also rent a jet ski, get a massage or a boat to Lover’s Beach from here. For night time entertainment you may as well just give yourself over to all that is Cabo and do the “Cabo Crawl.” Start at El Squid Row, hit the show at the Giggling Marlin and end at Cabo Wabo!

As for things to do . .a day trip to Todos Santos and San Jose are nice, ATV's, snorkeling at Chileno or Santa Maria beaches on the Corridor, swimming with dolphins, or go matching racing on the NZL America's Cup yachts! Whatever you do you are bound to have a great time, the ice and food are safe and everyone’s english will better then your espanol :-)

There is no real "MUST SEE" place in Cabo.
and if you go to the TROPICANA in San Jose', as suggested, it is also a tourist hotel and restaurant and is quite good. That is often where we stay when we go down the coast for an overnight.
The locals (Mexicans) drink beer for the most part, but not in restaurants; they don't have that kind of money. The local expatriates are spread out over a few places, but a lot of them have recently changed and I am not up on it, but GIGGLING MARLIN and LATITUDE 22 are two oldies still around.
Off the main streets are smaller, local Mexican eateries where you will find true locals and usually very good simple local fare.
