To the virtual world,

Hi I am coming to NYC from Dec 26-Jan 1 to celebrate turning 30. This plan has been in the works for 2 years...Decided while drunk one night with some friends. There are 4 of us girls going and I have planned a jam-packed itinerary but we can't find anything to do for NYE. Don't want to be near the ball drop or go to any of those $200 dollar crammed bar things that seem to pop up whenever I type NYE NYC into the search engine. We want to enjoy ourselves...any good restaurants? Walks? Neat Jazz bars? Little out of the way places that we can enjoy ourselves...4 girls from Canada...

midnight run's cool~ Otherwise I'd recommend finding yourself a private party.. in a home or closed door/invite only venue.. NYE is the best and worst night to go out in NY.. Everything is flooded packed to the point of discomfort...and all places that are somewhat enjoyable require a $200+ entry that for all intensive purposes, is a rip-off. Even check out what's going on at your hotel's bar/resto's (?)

Well happy birthday young lady. I would search for bars below 14th Street. Many if not all of the young people (people around 30) are here. Also, Arthur's Tavern, Garage and Blue Note are a handful of jazz venues in Greenwich Village.

You may also want to check out Smith Street in Brooklyn as there are lots of low key options here. Yeah, the neighborhood is called Boerum Hill and there will be lots of young people out and about, but it will not be a circus like in Manhattan on NYE. Happy Birthday!
