The Gambia Off to Gambia Tomorrow!!!!

What should we tip, at the airport, after a meal?

How can you decide who is a good guide to hire to take you about?

How many children are there in the schools? We are staying at the Senegambia, so want to go to a school in that area? Is it a good idea to give children we meet a little gift? like pencil case, pens, paper etc?

We have four children, is Gambia a safe place four our children?

Any places a must for us to visit?

Any other advice appreciated.

Sorry posted so late, just found website!!!

Can't wait, sounds great, just a bit worried about the Bumsters and mozzies!!!!

<What should we tip, at the airport, after a meal?>

Around 10/15% is fine.

<How can you decide who is a good guide to hire to take you about?>

You won't know until you have tried one, but they are all pretty good and if they do their jobs right, they will keep the bumsters away from you.

<How many children are there in the schools? We are staying at the Senegambia, so want to go to a school in that area? Is it a good idea to give children we meet a little gift? like pencil case, pens, paper etc?>

The gifts you have listed are fine, schools vary in size so giving you children numbers is difficult. Do NOT give the children sweets, tourist giving the children sweets is causing concern with public health officials because of the sharp increase in tooth decay.

<We have four children, is Gambia a safe place four our children?>

Yes, The Gambia is one of the friendliest places you will ever visit.

<Any places a must for us to visit?>

There are plenty of good things to see in The Gambia, however the "Roots" tour is bit of a tourist trap and not too good, also avoid the fishing villages on the coast if you are a bit squeemish.
