Hi i am travelling to fiji next jun/jul and wondering if anyone has the website for the astrala boat company that travels from australia to fiji? also any idea on the prices and how long it takes? Is there any boat from new zealand to fiji? Also i will be doing a medical elective there so any recommendations on hospitals in the area would be helpful.

june/july is a great time to travel to Fiji .. not too hot yet still nice and sunny each day. I would say probably Latoka or Nadi hospitals if you can try and organise it .. The only reason i say this is Suva (capital) is pretty far away from everything .. if you station yourself around Nadi (where the airport is), you have better access to the Manamanuca and Yasawa island groups which are great for day trips or weekend visits if your a resident. This way you can work and still have access to the tropical paradise which is the Fijian islands.

In terms of boating it to Fiji i wud not recommend it .. there is not much to see in between either aust/fiji or nz/fiji (apart from the deep blue) .. There are some great cheap flights from sydney and brisbane with Virgin airlines departing each day .. not expensive and takes 3.5 hours .. have a think about it.
