Angkor Wat Ideal # of days to spend in SIiem Reap/ Angkor
Posted: Fri October 10, 2008 11:06 AM UTC
Am reaching Siem reap on 2nd Nov noon but due to specific flight options, can take either 4th early morning out OR 6th early morning out. I leave Siem reap to go to Singapore from where we leave on 8th Late evening.

The sights that my travel agent offers in Siem reap are Sightseeing in Angkor - Visit Angkor Thom - Visit a temple for sunset - Visit Angkor Wat - Visit Ta Prohm - Visit Ta Som - Visit Neak Pean Temple - Visit Preah Khan - Visit Roluos Group Temples - Visit Banteay Srei Temple - Visit Banteay Samre - Visit Pre Rup Temple.

My question is that is it enough to see Siem reap for the 1.5 days or the 3.5 days. I want to see all of singapore also, which people tell me are more fun to do/ eat/ see.......pls suggest!

Well, your home page certainly dosn't give very much information about your interests.
The Angor Temples are pretty much spread out, although you could see the main area (Angkor Thom, Ankor Wat, Ta Prohm etc.) in one day.

There are other temple areas (Banteay Srei, Roulus Group etc) further away so you really need to decide how much temple time you need. The Town of Siem Reap is also worth a day wandering around, the restaurants & bars, and also the market will fill in some time. And a foot massage after a day trekking around the temples is a nice way to finish the day.

YOu need more than 1.5 days I believe to really get an appreciation for the sites mentioned. Take the 3.5 days options if you can because as Betska's says the Rolous and Banteay Srei and Samre have some travelling time and then you need to take time to appreciate

We spent our honeymoon in Siem Reap and Angkor Wat. The temples you want to see cannot be covered in 1.5 days. You won't enjoy if you rush from one point to another. I suggest you extend your trip if you want to enjoy more. All these temples are fascinating and it would be a pity if you run from one to another so that you don't miss your plane. Check my pages for these temples and some shopping tips in Siem Reap.

Hi,

Whatever the above 3 VT members said, are absolutely TRUE, believe me... You will just fall in love with the surroundings, and be lost in time.

Singapore ? don't waste your time with places that are just competing to get you to part most of your money. Maybe go to Kuala Lumpur, Malacca or Penang in Malaysia - lovely cities !!!

Pre Rup and Banteay Srei should be part of your itinerary. They are small temples that are really interesting. Bayon is also a good place to visit. I went to siem Reap and took a day pass, I was able to visit most of the temples you mentioned but I wish i'd stayed longer.

if you spend only one and hald days at Angkor, it would be just an empty boast to say you have seen angkor and you have been to cambodia. please forget singapore which is an empty bottle with lots of noise when you can see the substance in angkor, with the largest archeological complex in the world.. so if you are interested in a large mindless shopping complex with irate chinese shop owners and uncivilized citizenry please go to singapore and good luck to you but if you are interested in the largest and one of the most important archeological temple complexes of hindu and budhist cultures, please stay a little longer in angkor.
I am currently in Siem Reap and it feels very good to be back again ( my twelfth visit since 2003, i think, i have lost count. i go to singapore only to change planes and even that i have avoided in the past few months)
