Petra Visit in Dec

Planning to visit Petra in early Dec (first time).
Can anyone help me with these:
- Suggest an itenary for 5 / 6 days (fly in to Amman)?
- What is the weather like in Dec?

Many thanks!

Hi there
There is an itinerary on my Jordan page which we followed for our 5 days trip a few years ago. We went around the same time and it was a bit chilly in the mornings and evenings but hot during the day, so best to wear layers and take a coat/fleece.
Have fun

Great itinerary chizz. It took me back to a very similar tour I did many years ago. I recall being given a piece of mosaic from I think Madaba by the driver who had nonchalantly picked it up from the floor. Of course I was rather upset at the thought that if every tourist to Jordan took home a piece of mosaic, then there would be nothing for them to see !
Petra is stunning and you must have seen virtually everywhere if you climbed up to the very top point at the Altar.
The Jordanian people are wonderful and deserve plenty of high spending tourists !

Trying to predict the weather can be difficult because of local on the day variations.
This information should be used as a guide only.
Here is the average weather for Ma’an for this time of year.
Enjoy your holiday

Hi - Ive just returned from my first visit and because I had been given some contacts - friends of friends to look up, who I met when the VT meet trip we did from Israel to Jordan went to Petra and I went and visited them and then stayed in Petra to see more of Jordan rather than get off at Eilat - they reassured me that Jordan is fine for driving myself around. They have their own tour company and can drive, guide and do tours if wished but for me they got a good deal for car and hotels and off I went. the highlights of course are Wadi Rum, Petra and Little Petra, the drive up the Kings Road checking out the sights of, I enjoyed Shawback castle, Dana along the way to Kerak Castle and Madaba, Mekiwar, Mt Nebo, the drive from Mt Nebo to the Dead Sea has joined the best drives Ive done category, up to Amman and Jerash and the Desert castles. you can do all these things easily in 5-6 days if you keep moving and plan well. but definitely have a whole day in Petra!
it is truly a wonder of the world!

my friends are Adeeb and Sami Alhasanat at Jordan Inspiration tours - www.jitours.com - good site too. and on it you can find Sami's dissertation that he did for his Masters here in the UK which I found interesting reading for insight into tourism in Petra and Jordan.

All the best.
