Can anyone tell me if there is a catholic church in Oostvoorne or Brielle?

I assume that you are looking for the mainstream Roman Catholic Church, not the Old Catholic Church, the Anglican Catholic Church, etc, right?

The website www.masstimes.org (for looking up Roman Catholic churches and Mass times worldwide) reports
"Holy Martyrs van Gorcum of Brielle 0181412142 Updated: 4/27/2008
Address: Nobelstraat 22 Brielle BC 3231 NL"
It says that this church is three miles from Oostvoorne, in Brielle.

The church's website is http://www.rkparochiebrielle.nl/ and this site reports that (if my Dutch is correct) that Saturday evening Mass is at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday Mass is at 9:30 a.m. (click on "Kerkdiensten en tijden" on the left, which says something about "Church services" (Kerkdiensten).

Note that when you visit the masstimes.org website (or go direct to
http://www.masstimes.org/dotNet/showchurches.aspx?type=INTLCITY&q=&country=NL&countrycode=NL&city=oostvoorne&friendlyChurchName=&churchName=&statecode=11
if this link works for you), that there are several dozen Roman Catholic churches within a 15 miles radius.

Of course, you'll verify this when you get there, but with so many churches, it looks like you won't have a problem.

A 15 mile radius, Bill, would include major city Rotterdam with the satellite cities Schiedam, Vlaardingen. That's why so many results turn up.
However, it would take quite a long trip by public transportation, or around 30 minutes by car (motorway) to get to those churches.

Brielle is nearest. Or you might prefer Hellevoetsluis (12 kms from Oostvoorne).

Anke-Thea, I said a 15 mile radius because the website listed all the churches within 15 miles...it wasn't a number I chose...still, clearly the website correctly identified the nearest church as the one in Brielle, so all is well...but the OP does have other choices, depending on the church's schedule or his schedule or whatever. That's nice, don't you think?

hi Bill, it wasn't my intention to correct your information. I was giving additional info from a local's view. We are technically on a small island here, the 15 mile radius are not road miles but aerial miles and mean crossing over (a major river) to a completely different area. Also, the link gives options that are actually much further than even the 15 mile (aerial) radius.

The excellent website that you mention gives a list of churches mostly in small places that are almost all virtually non-reachable within a reasonable time on a Sunday morning if dependent on public transportation. To get there by car or bus it involves either a considerable detour or a ferry crossing.
You are correct that Brielle is the nearest and really just about the only option. Hellevoetsluis would be a good alternative, since it's on the same island.

Oh PJ, 10 blocks is a little overdone! That would cover just about all of Brielle, but the catholic parish church is in my street :-) hehehe.
