Sunday visit to Vatican City

We are planning on visiting the Vatican City on Sunday October 12th. the pope will be holding mass that day. I have read on some sites that the museums are not open on Sundays. Is this true? Also, my understanding that there are not private tours on Sundays...could this be because the museums are closed?????

shows that the museums are closed on all but the last Sunday in the month so yes, they will be shut on 12th.
