You will have plenty of opportunities to meet other French people at the university, don't worry!

You will automatically be a member of the Students Union, and there is an enormous range of clubs and societies you can join.

https://www.ubu.org.uk/societies/societies-list

will tell you what's available. I suspect you will want to join Erasmix, which is specifically aimed at students from abroad.

You should introduce yourself here on VT. First you could write something about you on your homepage and put a pic of yourself.

As someone who has hosted many international students here in the UK, I feel that you should try and introduce yourself to British (English speaking) students rather than French speaking ones.
Yes, French speakers can, at times, help you translate and understand any work/lectures/tutorials etc that you may have, but to truly get to grips with your studies you really need to mix with English speakers.

I have found that those students of mine who do mix, get a far faster and better grasp of English than those who keep within their fellow countrymen and as a result do far better in exams, tests etc. This is so important when you get into the more advanced stages of university work.
