Glasgow places to eat..
Posted: Tue September 30, 2008 09:57 AM UTC
Hi, Going to Glasgow(Hotel Central) on the 25th Oct for 3nts with my wife and 2 kids (11,8).
I would love to hear the best places to get some good food.Kid's are good eaters and enjoy a varied diet, though my daughter (11)has quite a list of allergies.
Looked at loads on the net and would love to hear from someone with local knowledge...good pub grub, restaurants e.t.c.
Thankyou.
David.

What sort of allergies does your daughter have? I have to avoid wheat and dairy and am also vegan so am familiar with trying to find places that will accomodate this. One place I'd recommend is Cafe Hula (www.cafehula.co.uk), on Hope Street, opposite the Theatre Royal - the food is great and if you phone ahead and speak to either Hugh or Rachel they will cook something that suits. It's also very reasonably priced. I organised a VT meet in Glasgow a couple of years ago and this is where we ate and everyone loved it. I don't eat out much in Glasgow, but will have a think about other places that might suit. I'm guessing that italian wouldn't be good if there's a problem with dairy or wheat? If this isn't a problem Dinos which is near the Central Station is very good and fairly reasonable. Another place I'd recommend if you like Thai is the Thai Orchid on Argylle Street (also close to the Central Hotel). Hope you enjoy your stay - Glasgow is a great city. I'm there every day for work.

We usually end up in Paperino's when we're in Glasgow (in fact, probably tonight!). Its Italian. Its opposite the cinema on Sauchiehall St, close to the Art School. Not so convenient for your hotel, but not that far either.

There are four Witherspoons pubs close to the Central Hotel. You may also want to try one or some of the following; Qua Italia, The Italian Kitchen, Cafe Andaluz, China Buffet, Kama Sutra, Toni`s, Osteria Piero, Bacchus, Di Maggio`s, TGI Fridays and Mzouda.
You`ll probably find somewhere better than all of these. :-)
