Botswana safari question and maun question
Posted: Fri September 26, 2008 10:05 PM UTC
I'm going to Botswana next summer and the time has come to choose a safari. I've narrowed it down to a couple of choices (although I'm still open to suggestions.) The packages are:

Option 1:
Meno a Kwena camp in the Kalahari
Delta Camp in the Okavango
Kasane Garden Lodge in Chobe

Option 2:
Deception valley lodge in the kalahari
Delta Camp and Mapula in the Okavango
Muchenje Safari Lodge in Chobe

I would appreciate any feedback you can give me about these lodges. I have no grounds for choosing one over the other.

I'm planning on a day to decompress after flying into Johannesburg. I could stay in either Johannesburg or Maun. Any advice?

Hey there, traveled to Botswana in July of last year. It is spectacular you can't go wrong. We did not stay in any of those camps but I would choose based on what you want to do/see. Do you want to walk? ride? mokoro? I hear Chobe is really touristy and busy - do you care about that? Do you like small lodges or large? We regretted not staying long enough in each camp - 2 days goes by very fast. Between Jozie and Maun, I would choose Joburg hands down. There are many things to see/do, good food, etc. Maun is a tiny town with not much going on. You can check out where we went on my virtual tourist Botswana page - IsabelBalboa. Hope that helps.

Isabel,

Thanks for the tips. I went ahead and chose option 2 because the Bushmen sound interesting. And the flight timing dictated spending the night in Johannesburg.

Thanks again,
