Hi,

I am planning to travel from Marseille to Lourdes, Can you advise how long would it take me to travel by bus or by train & where would I get the schedule for the bus & train.

Any website in English would be helpful.

Thanks in advance

www.sncf.com will give you train times and fares. There is an English version.

If you just want train times, then I find:

http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml

by far the easiest site to use.

It's quite a long journey, and will be longer by bus.

http://www.eurolines.fr/ (long-distance buses) does not list Lourdes as a destination, but you could perhaps use the coach to a nearby town/city and then get a train.

Approximately 7 hours.

Fare - about 64 euros

There is no direct bus available.

Although not in English, the above website in French is easy to navigate and considered by many as the definitive source for French rail travel information.

You can get a train (InterCity) from Marseilles at 15.00hrs to Toulouse and then change to the Regional Express to Lourdes arriving at 21.55hrs. this is just an example, I don't know if it would be better to catch a bus for part of the way as I'm not familiar with bus travel in France.

the bus is too long, she will have to get one in Marseille to toulouse and change again for Lourdes. TRain is best for the choices. the best is by air.

I took the train from Arles to Toulouse - I think three and a half hours - Arrived Toulouse around 17:30; Spent the night at the Mercure hotel in train station; Next day took the train to Lourdes - about two hours.

You can probably take an afternoon train from Marseille to Toulouse and next day to Lourdes because of infrequent trains to Lourdes from Toulouse. I think the train to Lourdes leaves at 10 AM.

This route was not shown on my web searches before departure. I just happened to discover it as I went along.
